An Event Horizon is the boundary surrounding a black hole beyond which nothing can return. At this boundary, gravity has curved spacetime so strongly that every possible path forward leads farther into the black hole. Once matter or light crosses the event horizon, it cannot send information back to the outside universe. The event horizon is not a solid surface, but an invisible boundary defined by the structure of spacetime. To a distant observer, an object approaching it appears increasingly slowed and its light becomes progressively redshifted and faint. The size of an event horizon depends largely on the mass and rotation of the black hole. It represents one of the most extreme boundaries in physics, separating the part of the universe we can potentially observe from a region whose events can no longer communicate with us.
