Aether

$3,500.00

Aether is an ancient idea that once described a substance believed to fill the heavens and the apparently empty space between celestial bodies. Ancient Greek philosophers proposed Aether as a fifth element distinct from earth, water, air, and fire, associating it with the substance of the celestial realm. Centuries later, physicists developed the concept of the luminiferous Aether, an invisible medium thought to carry light waves through space in the same way that air carries sound. During the Victorian era, Aether became an important part of attempts to understand light, electromagnetism, and the structure of space.
