Endless Return (to Earth) describes the continuous cycle through which matter returns to the Earth and becomes part of something new. The atoms within living bodies move repeatedly between organisms, soil, water, atmosphere, and stone, continually entering new arrangements as older forms disappear. Carbon passes from the atmosphere into plants and animals before eventually returning to the environment, while minerals released through decomposition and erosion become incorporated into new forms of life and landscape. Life participates in cycles of matter that began long before the existence of Earth itself. Philosophically, the idea echoes traditions of eternal return, impermanence, death, rebirth, and the understanding of existence as transformation rather than permanence.
