Nebula Cradle refers to the role that certain nebulae play as stellar nurseries, enormous clouds of gas and dust where new stars can form. Within the coldest and densest regions of these clouds, gravity gradually pulls material together into increasingly concentrated pockets. As a region collapses, a protostar begins to form at its center, gathering additional material from the cloud surrounding it. Pressure and temperature continue to rise until the core becomes hot and dense enough for nuclear fusion to begin, marking the birth of a new star. Material left around the young star can form a rotating disk from which planets, moons, asteroids, and other smaller bodies may eventually develop.
