Thermal Instability

$3,000.00

Thermal instability is a scientific phenomenon in which a small change in temperature causes a system to become increasingly unstable, rather than returning to equilibrium. As the temperature rises or falls, processes such as heating, cooling, radiation, or changes in density can reinforce the original disturbance and cause it to grow. In astrophysics, thermal instability can occur within enormous clouds of interstellar gas and plasma, causing regions of the material to cool and condense while others remain hot and diffuse.
